I joined the family for morning dancing in a nearby park before sunrise. We shared breakfast, lunch, and dinner together at one table while learning about local culture. I looked out from my room at the mountain range and Kathmandu throughout my stay.

Local shops near the quiet neighbourhood
I stayed for three nights in a quiet neighbourhood. I walked to the local shops nearby after the supermarket closed.
I chose my morning meal from four or five selections displayed on a colored tablet during breakfast. I enjoyed an omelet made to order each morning before heading out into the center of Thamel. My room stayed quiet while I rested throughout my four-night stay.
I ate fresh, made-to-order breakfast at the artisan café on the ground floor each morning until three. I slept in a room with colonial-style furniture and windows that opened for fresh air. My stay felt peaceful since the hotel sat on a quiet street, hidden from the energy of Thamel.
I sat on the rooftop to watch the valley views and forest during my three days in Kathmandu. Sudarshan hand-ground the coffee I drank at breakfast each morning while Mira cooked traditional meals upon request. My room contained a modern desk and a charging outlet with a USB port by the bed, which I used daily.
I soaked in the private jacuzzi while watching the city lights of Kathmandu from my mountain perch. Dinner featured tasty dishes made with fresh vegetables from the on-site garden. I spent my time in a quiet safari tent, which kept me surrounded by the sounds of the hillside nature. The staff greeted me with warm hospitality from the moment I climbed the stairs to this hillside retreat.
I stayed in a newly built room next to the forest. I walked to the Triten Norbutse Monastery in the evening. The owners served a dinner of local food in the homestay.
I chose from the à la carte breakfast menu which the cafe served from 6.00 am until 3.00 pm daily. I relaxed in the quiet interior courtyard while eating my mealwith a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Thamel. A security guard remained on duty at the entrance throughout the night.
